Before arriving in the US, a cousin who was already working in the States as a machinist in a reputed company, advised
Brother Kurien to learn the trade of a Turner, as a way to get a job in the same company. Taking his cousin's advice and
completing the course for Turner trade, he made his way to the United States with big expectations, hopes and dreams.
Soon after he arrived, he became a Born Again Christian and started to attend Pentecostal worship services, instead of
attending his family Church with his cousin, who was an Orthodox Christian. Upon learning of Brother Kurien's religious
decision, his cousin refused to get him a job at his company and told Bro. Kurien to ask another Pentecostal brother to
find him a job.
By God's grace, that same week, a Pentecostal brother presented Bro. Kurien with a job, located in the heart of
Manhattan. This job came with the privilege of using the company car, which later proved to be a major factor in
creating his future. While maintaining this job for about four years, Brother Kurien gained the confidence and
knowledge to navigate the busy streets of Manhattan.
While riding in a taxi he had a conversation with the driver about the Taxi business. He was told about the convenience,
flexibility, independence and financial security that came with being a taxi driver. The driver said that if he owns his
own Medallion Taxi, it is also a good investment. So with an abundance of courage, Brother Kurien ventured into the Taxi Business.
Since driving in the City, Bro. Kurien has crossed paths with people from all walks of life, and has seen lots of
interesting and weird things. While working at night, he has seen many people waiting in line to get into nightclubs
and most of these people whom Bro. Kurien met never attend any church services. On his day off, he would go back to
these places to pass out gospel tracts. Some people would take them, while others would not. Since most taxis in
New York City have rooftop advertisements, Bro. Kurien thought that this may be effective way to spread the Word
of God on his private vehicle. Since then, Brother Kurien has been praying to start the Ministry called Rolling
for Jesus.
Since 1992, Bro. Kurien made posters of biblical verses and affixed on either sides of his private vehicle and drove
around the city. Recently, he registered this ministry as Rolling for Jesus Inc.
